Susan Sarandon Bio

It was the 1968 Democratic Convention and there was a casting need for a movie that featured many parts for young people who disrupted the event. Two recent graduates of Catholic University in Washington DC attended the audition in New York for Joe (1970). Chris Sarandon was not selected even though he previously studied acting. His wife Susan was given a prominent part as Susan Compton as the child of Bill Compton (Dennis Patrick). Dad Bill, Susan's drug dealer boyfriend, dies in the film. Joe (Peter Boyle) is a bigot working in an assembly line is next introduced to Joe (Sarandon). Janet is involved with Dr. Frank n Furter, is the role of Janet in the film The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975). Sarandon fought for Annie in Bull Durham (1988) more than 15 year following her first appearance in the film. She was able to fly on her own from Rome, Italy to Los Angeles. "It was a fantastic script... It did rid of a lot of legends, and challenged American notions of what success is," she said. "When I arrived at the studio I had a chat with Kevin Costner, kissed some ass at the studio and got back on a plane". Tim Robbins (1988), her Bull Durham supporting actor, had already given birth to two sons before 1992 which made Sarandon in a position where she could move out of her home and pursue demanding roles. The result was four Academy Award nominations in the 1990s, and the best actress award for Dead Man Walking (1995). Louis Malle's Atlantic City (1980), was her first Academy Award nomination.
